A Calling That Became a Mission
Organic Culture Wellness was born from years of serving individuals and families in crisis—not from a business plan, but from a calling.
As an Ordained Minister, Certified Peer Support Specialist, Yoga Instructor, and Certified Metaphysical Practitioner, Rev. Therese Ukaigwe has dedicated her life to helping people move from crisis to confidence through compassionate support, holistic wellness, and meaningful opportunities.
After spending nearly eighteen months traveling throughout North Carolina providing peer support services, she witnessed a gap that too many people fell into. Emergency assistance could meet an immediate need, but lasting change required something more.
Rather than asking where the solution would come from, she chose to help build it.
That vision became Organic Culture Wellness.

A Calling That Became a Mission
Organic Culture Wellness was not created from a business idea.
It was born from years of serving people in crisis, witnessing both heartbreaking struggles and incredible resilience, and answering a calling to help build stronger communities.
Where It All Began
I found a church home at Acts of the Apostle Apostolic Ministries, led by Dr. Beverly Diane Gray. One of the things that first drew me there was the church's commitment to serving the community through its food pantry.
Week after week, we packed groceries, prepared hot meals, and went directly into neighborhoods to serve people wherever they were.
We didn't wait for people to come to us.
We went to them.
From the very beginning, two remarkable women in the church, Adrina and Rose, and every person in our I met just showed LOVE! My Apostle taught unconditional love. They welcomed me with open arms. They encouraged me, supported me, and became family. Their kindness, along with the love of my church family, helped shape the servant leader I strive to be today.
Through those experiences, I learned something that has stayed with me ever since:
Sometimes a meal is much more than food.
It is hope.
It is dignity.
It is the beginning of healing.
A Moment I'll Never Forget
Before food outreach She prayed over us, Dr. Beverly Diane Gray prayed over each one of us.
I remember bringing the bottle of holy oil She had blessed. As I knelt before her, she anointed my head with oil, placed her hand upon me, and said:
"Now go and do God's work!"
Those words became part of who I am.
For me, it was more than a beautiful moment—it was a calling to dedicate my life to serving others with compassion, dignity, and purpose.
The Next Chapter
Later, I became a Certified Peer Support Specialist, walking alongside individuals facing unemployment, homelessness, food insecurity, mental health challenges, addiction, trauma, and barriers that many people never see.
One experience has never left me.
A young woman sat in front of me, crying because she desperately wanted to work.
Years earlier, she had made a mistake.
Although she had worked hard to rebuild her life, employers continued to judge her by her past instead of the person she had become.
She didn't need another lecture.
She didn't need another list of phone numbers.
She needed someone to believe in her.
That day, I realized that food alone wasn't enough.
People also needed opportunity.
They needed healing.
They needed employment.
They needed someone willing to walk beside them until they could stand on their own.
Why Organic Culture Wellness Exists
That realization became Organic Culture Wellness.
Our mission is simple:
Meet people where they are. That's what She taught us!
Our Mobile Food Pantry is often the first point of contact because no one should have to choose between feeding their family and asking for help.
From there, we listen.
We complete a confidential intake.
We identify each person's strengths, barriers, and goals.
We connect them with peer support, holistic wellness services, housing and community resources, and personalized support designed to move them toward lasting stability.
Why We Created EmpowerClean
We also recognized that many people don't just need encouragement—they need employment.
That's why we created EmpowerClean Services Group LLC, a social enterprise wholly owned by Organic Culture Wellness.
EmpowerClean provides professional services to municipalities, businesses, and homeowners while creating meaningful employment opportunities for participants who are ready to return to work. As they build confidence, develop new skills, and gain valuable experience, we help connect them with sustainable careers and greater financial independence.
Our Vision
We believe people are more than the worst mistake they've ever made.
We believe everyone deserves another opportunity.
We believe communities become stronger when we invest in people with compassion, accountability, and hope.
That belief guides everything we do.

A Personal Note
Organic Culture Wellness is more than a nonprofit to me.
It is the result of countless people who poured into my life, challenged me to grow, and showed me what it truly means to serve. I've made all the mistakes all the bad decisions these are our peers, they deserve a chance 3rd and 4th if necessary!
It is my calling.
It is my life's work.
And every person we serve reminds me why I answered that call.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
