Meet the Founder
A Calling That Became a Mission
There are moments in life when you realize God has been preparing you for something long before I became a Certified Peer Support Specialist, I was the person others came to with their struggles, their questions, and their pain. I have always been drawn to people who felt forgotten, overlooked, or believed their past defined their future.
What I didn't understand then was that God was preparing me for a calling much greater than a career.
My journey has not been defined by perfection. Like so many of the people I now serve, I have walked through seasons of hardship, uncertainty, loss, and rebuilding. Those experiences taught me empathy that no classroom ever could and reminded me that God's greatest work is often accomplished through ordinary people willing to say "yes."
One of the most defining chapters of my journey began at Acts of the Apostle Apostolic Ministries, under the leadership of Dr. Beverly Diane Gray. Through our church's food outreach ministry, I experienced what it truly meant to meet people where they were. Week after week, we packed groceries, prepared meals, prayed with families, and carried hope into neighborhoods throughout our community.
Before each outreach, Apostle Gray would pray over us, reminding us that we weren't simply delivering food—we were delivering love.
One day, she anointed my head with oil, laid her hands upon me, and spoke words that have remained with me ever since:
"Now go and do God's work."
Those words became part of who I am.
Later, as a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist, I spent nearly eighteen months traveling throughout communities across the state, walking alongside individuals and families experiencing homelessness, unemployment, food insecurity, mental health challenges, trauma, addiction recovery, and countless other barriers. Every city I visited revealed a different story, yet the same need.
People weren't just struggling because they lacked resources.
Too often, they were falling through the gaps between those resources.
A meal could ease today's hunger.
A referral could provide temporary direction.
But lasting transformation required something more.
It required someone willing to walk beside them until they believed in themselves again.
For a long time, I thought helping meant giving everything I had.
My time.
My energy.
My attention.
My heart.
Sometimes even my own well-being.
Eventually, I found myself emotionally exhausted. I had unknowingly convinced myself that if I simply worked harder, gave more, or sacrificed enough, I could somehow save everyone.
God gently reminded me of something I had forgotten.
I am not the Savior.
Jesus already fulfilled that role.
My responsibility is not to rescue people.
My responsibility is to love them, serve them faithfully, create opportunities, and trust God with the transformation.
That lesson changed not only my life—it changed my leadership.
Today, Organic Culture Wellness is built upon that understanding.
We believe compassion should empower, not create dependence.
We believe healing must care for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
We believe employment restores dignity.
We believe wellness should be accessible to every community.
We believe every individual deserves to be seen for who they can become, not merely judged by where they have been.
That vision became Organic Culture Wellness Inc.
Today, our organization serves communities throughout North Carolina and Florida through mobile outreach, peer support, holistic wellness, workforce development, and innovative programs including Embodied Healing™, Embodied Reset™, The PeerPreneur Blueprint™, and EmpowerClean Services Group—creating practical pathways from crisis to confidence, from healing to employment, and from surviving to thriving.
This is more than my profession.
It is my ministry.
It is my purpose.
It is my life's work.
My prayer is that every person who encounters Organic Culture Wellness experiences what so many people once gave to me: compassion without judgment, hope without conditions, and the opportunity to discover that their greatest chapter may still be ahead.
May God bless your journey, strengthen your spirit, and guide you into the purpose He has prepared for your life.
With gratitude,
Rev. Therese Ukaigwe
